Mission:
The International Space Station is running out of vital supplies. Your task is
to build a rocket that will deliver these supplies from Earth to the space
station. You can only use the materials that you have been given. Good luck!
Suggested
materials:
• Balloons (the longer ‘sausage-shaped’ versions are best)
• Masking tape
• Plastic straws
• Strong string (about 3 metres)
• Cardboard boxes of various sizes (not too large if it is to be propelled by a
balloon)
• Small empty water bottles
• Empty paper towel/
toilet roll holders
• A weight to represent the ‘vital supplies’
• Two standing poles (metre sticks taped to desks will also suffice)
• Scissors
• Glue
Please
brain storm possible solutions to the above problem with your child and try to
obtain the following materials found on the list: long sausage shaped
balloons, a couple of straws, small cardboard boxes, small empty water bottles/
empty paper towel or toilet roll holders.
