Task for New IPC Module on Wednesday
Mission
control
Mission:
The International Space Station is running out of vital supplies. Your task is
to build a rocket that will deliver these supplies from Earth to the space
station. You can only use the materials that you have been given. Good luck!
Suggested
materials:
• Balloons (the longer ‘sausage-shaped’ versions are best)
• Masking tape
• Plastic straws
• Strong string (about 3 metres)
• Cardboard boxes of various sizes (not too large if it is to be propelled by a
balloon)
• Small empty water bottles
• Empty paper towel/
toilet roll holders
• A weight to represent the ‘vital supplies’
• Two standing poles (metre sticks taped to desks will also suffice)
• Scissors
• Glue
Please
brain storm possible solutions to the above problem with your child and try to
obtain the following materials found on the list: long sausage shaped
balloons, a couple of straws, small cardboard boxes, small empty water bottles/
empty paper towel or toilet roll holders.

Work set during school closure
Due to the expected inclement weather, we have planned some work to support your child's learning during the closure of school. Please refer to the school website for further details regarding school closure.
Work can be found in the homework folder found below the Roald Dahl photo to the right on this page. Please click on the folder 2013 Term 1 Week 11 beg. 17-11-13. Your child is expected to do at least two Literacy, two Maths and one Science activity per day(in case of further closure by the Ministry of Education).
The Science activities, linked to our new module, is research based. Please support your child, if needed, to use the Google search engine with key words ending with "for kids or KS2."
Remind the children to do their daily reading as well. Children are also expected to do their spelling homework for the week. For the spelling activity in the homework folder, the children should use at least 5 of their current spelling words(root words) to form the rhymes. This has to be done on Tuesday. The advert activity is for the following day (if necessary).
There is also an additional activity. This activity is due by the end of term.
Please find French homework in the folder as well.
Year 5B should also complete their DT poster and the current myimaths homework.
