Maths problems written by Year 5


1.       Year 5 and 6 are going on a trip to Greece.  They were 54 children and 4 teachers, a ¼ of them didn’t go.  How many went?

2.       Jake and his dad opened a shop.  They soiled drinks that cost 1.50.  25 costumers came and bought 2 bottles each.  How much money do they have?  Jake splits the money with his dad.  How much money does Jake get?

3.        There was a bus leaving from derby at 15 45 and going to Beeville.  It took 40mins to get there.  What time did it arrive?

4.       Mrs. Robert had 44.00 in her purse.  Her 2 sons each brought 3 friends to play with.  An ice cream cost 1.75.  How much money does she have left?

5.       In a football stadium there are 120 VIP seats. 205seats are for bachelors and 430 seats for families. How many seats are in the football stadium altogether?

6.       Mr.Suter had to make costumes for 136 students, Mrs.Naidoo had to make costumes for 154 students, one for herself, one for Mr.Suter and one for Miss. Thomas. How many costumes are made?

7.       There was a big festival at school.  254 adults and 179 children came to the festival.  281 adults and 366 children arrived at the festival.
a)      How many adults came altogether?
b)     How many children came altogether?
c)      How many adults and children came altogether?

  2. A petrol station has 786L of petrol. They buy 579L more and a customer gives them 267L. How much L of petrol do they have now? After that they use 582L for a 3 cars and 6/7 of it for 6 huge trucks how much are they left with?
