Well done Year 5!

Hi all

Well we have to say what a fantastic response we've had so far to the work we've set. We know it's a lot for you to get through, but you're doing a brilliant job! It was so nice to see such neat work and there were some lovely poems for us to read. Top job!

Now that you've got one week of home study under your belt, hopefully this week will be slightly easier for you - and you've got a day longer to do your work. We look forward to seeing what lovely things you've done this week.

Some of you have discovered some fab websites to help you with your learning and parents have recommended we put them on here, so if you have time, check these out!

Scared about sound? Use this website to put all your fears at bay.
Want to find out more about the vibrant Victorians? Try here and here.
Find some marvellous maths practise here (login details in this weeks pack).
Have a look at some literacy lurking on this website.

Don't forget you can access weekly readers and all other resources on the Year 5 download section here.

Mr Centeno will be running a training session for parents on how to use the 'mymaths' website this Monday between 12pm and 2pm.

Oh dear!

Well it looks like Mr Suter
is struggling, but from what we've seen you're doing a much better job than he is so keep it up!

'Twas a fine night to dine by candle-light' quoth he,

We had a lot of parents asking what 'quoth' means! This is a fancy word poets can use for 'said' - in the past tense. Do you know what it means to 'quote' someone? Well quethe is pretty much like an old fashioned word for quote, and quoth is the past form of quethe. Confused? We are!!! To find our more click here.

Well done for all the hard work on maths this week. Some really neat work has been coming in - let's make sure we're doing our best work please kids! If you would like to do more practise on your rounding skills, click here for a fun game.

Well that's all for today. Next weeks readers and schedule are available online now for all those keen beans out there! Have a great weekend and we'll see you (well the adults at least) on Saturday at 10:30am for those who can attend.

Learning something new

Dear pupils and parents

Well as you can see it's starting to get very lonely without you. Mr Suter seems very confused about this maths problem - tell us whether you think he'll get it right or not and you'll find out the answer tomorrow!

Thanks to everyone for dropping off the home study books today. We didn't have too many queries which hopefully means everyone's okay! We are aware that there is a lot to cover - hopefully with next weeks work ready on Saturday there will be more time to get everything completed.

Remember we are just an email, blog or phone call away, ready to answer any questions you may have about the work.

The new work packs will be ready to be collected on Saturday morning and there will be a meeting on this day at the normal time of 10:30am in Mr Suter's room to go over the work for the week.

Year 5 portal online

Dear parents

It was great to see so many parents able to make today's meeting. For those of you who were unable to attend you are welcome to drop into the school at any-time to pick up your work pack for your child. These are located in Mr. Whitaker's room - 5A. Please also drop off any completed work in this room.

All staff now have email addresses which you or your children can use to contact us about specific issues relating to the work set (see below).

We intend to use this blog portal primarily as a means of general communication between staff, pupils and parents in Year 5 - if you have a general question/comment then please post it here, more specific queries can be emailed to the teacher directly.

We are endeavouring to do the best we can for your children. With this in mind let's try to keep comments on this blog positive in nature. By all means let your child post to this blog if you wish them to do so.

Until our next post.... good luck!
